Several years ago the University of North Carolina established a digital library. One of the entries that were created is called Documenting the American South. One of the most interesting items that I found was a biography of Bishop Richard Allen, one of the founders of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Some of the narratives seem to have been updated, but you have to remember that the basis of it was reading a long time ago, and yet you can see the trial simulations and early struggles by the comparatives other things that are yet in existence. The link below will take you to the Bishop Allen biography to be used not violating any copyright laws.
