Rev. Swayne Anthony Cofield, MD
was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri and
has spent his lifetime in the African Methodist
Episcopal Church. He attended Ebenezer AME Church
during his childhood. The Connectional Church was
instrumental in helping him find a home under
"watch care" at Primm Tabernacle AME
Church in Pomona, CA while in college. Upon
starting medical school, he was blessed to find a
church home at Ward AME Church in Los Angeles in
1995.
Rev. Cofield graduated from Claremont McKenna
College in Claremont, CA in 1995 where he received
his Bachelor of Arts in Science and Management
(Chemistry Track). He went on to attend The UCLA
School of Medicine where he completed his MD degree
in December 1999. Dr. Cofield completed a Family
Medicine Residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in
Torrance, CA in 2003. He currently works for Kaiser
Permanente at Bellflower and Downey Medical Center
in the department of Family Medicine.

Rev. Cofield received his call to preach in 2002
and was ordained an Itinerant Deacon during the
83'd Session of the Southern California Annual
Conference in September 2007. He completed his
studies with the Board of Examiners of the AME
Church in 2010. Rev. Cofield received his call to

of the AME Church in 2010. On October 27, 2015,
after the 91s' Session of the Southern
California Annual Conference, God opened the door
for Rev. Cofield's first pastoral assignment by
joining the members of Rose of Sharon AME Church in
Norwalk, CA as their new pastor.
He has been married for 19 years to his lovely
wife, Jeannine Cofield. Pastor and Mrs. Cofield
have been blessed with two talented children
(Kennedy Grace, 18 and Timothy Swayne, 16).

Pastor Cofield loves learning, preaching and
teaching the Word of God. He loves listening to
good preaching, He also has a passion for educating
men and women on health issues and empowering
people to educate and share their medical knowledge
and experiences with other.
